Are you experiencing Resistance in your life? You’re not alone. Has the Lord ever asked you to do something for Him, for His Kingdom, and it seems as though from that moment on you’ve had nothing but resistance? Does this sound familiar? Well, if the enemy is resisting you, you’re on the right path. If you are making an impact for the Kingdom of God, you will have resistance.
John 16:33 (NKJV) These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
I love this scripture because it tells me 4 things: (1) Jesus warns that opposition, tribulation, etc., will come. (2) In Him, I can have peace. 3) I can still have joy and (4) Jesus has already overcome. This is a very empowering scripture. It tells me that in the midst of a struggle, I can have joy, peace and an assurance that I can overcome because He already did.
Through the years I’ve heard people say, you just need to have joy in your situation. When circumstances are difficult, joy is NOT what I’m feeling. Yet Jesus tells me that it’s available. So how do I have joy, peace and assurance to overcome in a situation? How do I access all that Jesus says is available to me? Prayer and Praise will help move you through any situation. Prayer draws you close to The One who can move on your behalf, and praise Honors Him. When we come to Him, those two things move His heart. Sometimes our situation in the natural does not change; but the time spent with Him will change our heart.
When your child comes to you hurt, what happens? They climb up on your lap; they hug you; they just want to be with you. They want you to comfort them. What’s your response? To love them more, love them deeper — greater than you did before. Their desire to be with you draws you to them even more. You just want to embrace them so that they are secure and have no doubts that they are loved and you are right there with them. If this is how you feel, how much more does your Father in Heaven want you to climb up on His lap and let Him hug on you, love on you? He desires to comfort you, to bring you peace, to restore your joy, to assure you that you can overcome in any situation.
Recently, my husband and I were preparing for an Inner Healing prayer ministry with someone. About three hours before the meeting, I began to physically feel bad. I began to have doubts. I began to not feel confident in what God had called us to do. I began hearing these thoughts: You should cancel. You don’t feel good. You should reschedule. Does this sound familiar? Yes, I recognize the stranger’s voice as well. Needless to say, because I recognized what was going on, I pressed through. I began praying in the Spirit. I put worship music on and continued to pray. I would love to tell you that everything changed instantly, but it did not. I continued struggling all the way until we started to pray with this person. As soon as the opening prayer ended, I instantly felt peace come over me. Confusion and every physical symptom disappeared. I could feel the Lord’s peace flow over me. It was tangibly noticeable. Needless to say, the ministry time was amazing because God was present and working.
So if you’re experiencing some opposition from the enemy, be joyful! Know that you are making an impact for the Kingdom of God! Know that you are on the right path! Keep moving forward and listen for His Voice. He will direct your path.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Wow. Your post is so encouraging. I can safely say that I have been in a little bit of a funk lately and, thanks to some inner healing, come a little bit out of said funk. I feel hope and that some things can change. The stranger’s voice is very discouraging, but sometimes the Lord offers up a sassy word and destroys the lies that were once an awful, perceived reality. Love your blog, so relatable, and so uplifting. Thank you.
