Have you ever noticed when you tell someone you’re going to accomplish a monumental goal, they begin to tell you all the reasons why you can’t do it? You have to know that not everyone will be happy for you and your accomplishments, and not everyone is as fearless as you are! However, just because someone says you can’t do it, doesn’t make it so.
MOSES SENDS OUT THE SPIES
I love the story of Moses (Numbers 13) sending out the 12 Spies. I am reminded that of the 12 men sent out, only 2 returned with a good report. What’s even funnier to me is that they came back with proof in their hands! They were physically carrying the fruit, the promise of the land in their hands! Although it was in front of them to see, their vision was not focused on the promise. They were focused on the obstacles, the giants in the land. They were discouraged and began to give up. Their words of victory turned to negativity. They now saw themselves as grasshoppers compared to the giants in the land. They began to speak death over themselves. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (NKJV) After speaking and seeing themselves as inferior compared to the inhabitants of the land, they began to believe they could not possess the Promised Land.
JOSHUA AND CALEB BELIEVED THE PROMISE
Joshua and Caleb saw the obstacles, but their eyes were on the promise. They kept their eyes on God, and their words lined up with the vision before them. They spoke life over themselves and over their challenges. God never said it would be easy, He said He would be with them and He would bring them into a land flowing with milk and honey.
Exodus 3:8 (NKJV)8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
I want you to think about this for a moment. All of these men were leaders of their tribes. They left Egypt together. They lived in the wilderness together. As God lead them, they would take up their tents together. They were friends! Yet, out of 12 men, only 2 were courageous enough to stand in front of their friends and say, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” Numbers 13:30 (NKJV)
YOU ARE WELL ABLE TO TAKE THE LAND
I believe the truth in this scripture God wants us to see, is that we are well able to take the land. Each one of us have a vision for our future with obstacles in front of us. Yet God says today, “you are well able to take the land.” Be encouraged that you are not alone. God is with you. He is fighting for you and with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He’s already won the battle so that you can win yours today!
Go out and take the land that God has shown you. Remember, just because someone says you can’t, doesn’t make it so.
You are well able!
